Last month I got to attend the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. It was my first time and I was excited to learn that they do a retrospective programming within the festival called Fear In Focus. This year the theme was J-Horror and I was instantly attracted to a live score accompaniment to a 1926 silent film called A Page of Madness. This is how I discovered The Flushing Remonstrance — the duo behind countless live score presentations in cinemas and venues around NYC.
In this episode of the Marquee Mixtape podcast I sit down with Catherine Cramer and Robert Kennedy to learn about their process in performing live scores, their music origins, how they got started as a duo, and we also dig into the screen gem: A Page of Madness.
Stick around for the end of the episode where you can hear a sample of their music and get a taste of the original score they create for repertory screenings.
They have several upcoming screenings in December so be sure to check out their website for tickets and more info HERE.
