The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival returns to both Nitehawk Cinema locations, and it’s already happening NOW through October 24! There’s an exciting repertory slate of queer vampire films, a spotlight on movies from Spain, and more. Nitehawk Cinema Projectionist McKegg Collins visits Marquee Mixtape to discuss his role in handling 35mm screenings from the projection booths at Williamsburg and Prospect Park locations. He’ll run the 35mm print for THE BLOOD SPATTERED BRIDE at midnight tonight!
In our conversation, we get into how he made an unplanned career pivot in the early years of the pandemic when he interviewed for the projectionist role at Nitehawk with virtually no experience in the field. But he was determined to learn and underwent rigorous training from Nitehawk’s senior projectionist team. Now he’s deep in the trenches of the life of a projectionist and had so much to discuss with me about his passion for it.
McKegg is yet another guest on the show from the Nitehawk Cinema staff who genuinely expresses their love for their team, the workplace culture, and the audience community. Their passion and craft are tremendous for the culture.
